Ski patrol units have begun operating at Georgia’s mountain ski resorts to ensure public order and the safety of visitors, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Sunday.

The body added skier patrols from the Patrol Police Department, together with officers from various divisions, have launched operations with increased resources and personnel. The patrols will operate intensively along ski slopes to maintain order and provide a safe environment for resort visitors.

The skier patrol officers have completed specialised training courses, are fully equipped and are prepared to assist vacationers whenever necessary, the Ministry said.

In Gudauri and Bakuriani, additional patrol police crews will also be deployed to maintain public order and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles amid increased mobility at the resorts.

Alongside the Patrol Police Department, visitor safety at ski resorts will be ensured by multiple units of the Ministry, including the Emergency Management Service, the Criminal Police and the Security Police Department, according to the statement.
