Three foreign citizens arrested in Tbilisi over large-scale drug trafficking

Georgian police have arrested three foreign nationals in Tbilisi on suspicion of possessing exceptionally large quantities of narcotics and facilitating their distribution, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

Officers from the Patrol Police Department's Tbilisi Main Division detained the suspects during separate operations, the MIA press office said.

Police said searches of the suspects and subsequent investigative measures led to the seizure of exceptionally large quantities of drugs allegedly prepared for sale, including methadone and marijuana.

Investigators also confiscated equipment and materials allegedly used for packaging narcotics.

If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years' imprisonment or life in prison.
