Foreign citizen arrested at Tbilisi airport over attempt to illegally cross into Georgia

A foreign national has been detained at Tbilisi International Airport on suspicion of attempting to illegally cross Georgia's state border using a forged document, the Interior Ministry said.

The suspect was detained by officers of the Border Management and Coordination Main Division of the Patrol Police Department, the ministry said on Monday.

Authorities said the person was detained at the airport while allegedly attempting to enter or leave Georgia using a falsified document.

The charges carry a sentence of up to five years in prison.
