Police seize large quantities of narcotics in Tbilisi

The crime is punishable by up to 20 years in prison

Law enforcement authorities have made significant drug-related arrests in the Georgian capital, targeting the illegal possession and distribution of controlled substances.
Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Central Criminal Police Department detained two individuals on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and facilitation of the sale of large quantities of narcotics. During searches of their residences and vehicles, police seized nearly four litres of a liquid narcotic containing Alpha-PVP, as well as 16 individually packaged doses of the same substance. Additional materials used for packaging the drugs were also confiscated. The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260² of Georgia’s Criminal Code, with potential sentences of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
In a separate operation, patrol officers from the Tbilisi Main Department of the Police arrested a 2006-born Ukrainian national, identified as B.K., on similar charges. Searches of the suspect’s home yielded 153 individually packaged doses of methadone, prepared for sale, along with equipment used for packaging. This case is also being investigated under Articles 260 and 260², which carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
