Five foreign nationals among six arrested in Tbilisi over large-scale drug offences

Five foreign nationals are among six people arrested in Tbilisi on suspicion of large-scale drug offences, Georgia’s Interior Ministry said on Friday.

The suspects were detained at different times by officers from the Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Department.

Police searches of the suspects, their homes and locations they identified uncovered particularly large quantities of methadone and clephedrone allegedly prepared for sale. Materials used to package drugs were also seized.

The offences carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
