Contaminated milk batch fully removed from market, Georgian Food Agency says

On April 7, four days after the first public warning about aflatoxin M1 contamination, Georgia’s National Food Agency announced that the specific batch of milk from the brand Soplis Nobati (produced by Wim-Bill-Dann Georgia) has been completely withdrawn from the market.

“The specific batch of Soplis Nobati milk in which aflatoxin M1 was detected has been fully removed from the retail network,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

According to the agency, all other Soplis Nobati dairy products currently available in stores—including milk, yogurt, sour cream, and cottage cheese—fully comply with food safety standards.

The agency noted that it conducts routine inspections of milk processing companies at least four times a year. In 2023, the dairy sector was inspected around 1,500 times, with 1,031 samples taken for testing. Wim-Bill-Dann Georgia was inspected 15 times, and no violations were found in any of those cases, the agency added.
