The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Border Police has added a third H145 helicopter to its fleet. The new aircraft was flown from Germany to Georgia by Border Police pilots.

According to the Ministry, all three modern, European-style helicopters are fully equipped with firefighting and mountain rescue gear. The helicopters feature two engines, enhancing flight safety, and are designed to operate at high altitudes with excellent maneuverability, making them ideal for Georgia’s mountainous terrain.

The Border Police’s flight crew underwent extensive retraining at the Airbus Helicopters Training Academy in Germany.

The acquisition follows a contract signed on December 19, 2022, between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and French company Airbus Helicopters for the purchase of three H145 helicopters. These helicopters are expected to significantly improve Georgia’s emergency response and border security capabilities.
