Georgia’s energy and water regulator, Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, on Tuesday said it had ordered utility companies to cancel 128,856 lari ($46,000) in charges deemed unjustified during the first four months of 2026.
The commission said the write-offs followed an assessment of complaints submitted by consumers regarding disputed bills and time-barred debts.
According to the agency, the largest share of the cancelled charges related to the gas sector, amounting to 64,171 lari. Electricity accounted for 46,946 lari, while water supply charges totalled 17,739 lari.
The regulator said the decisions were made after reviewing written submissions handled by its Disputes and Services Management Department.
GNERC has urged consumers of electricity, natural gas, water supply and irrigation services to contact the commission if they believe their rights have been violated.
