Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has travelled to Belgrade on an official visit to attend the inaugural conference of parliament speakers from European Union candidate countries.
The conference is being held at the initiative of the speakers of the Serbian and Ukrainian parliaments, according to the Georgian parliament's press service.
The meeting is aimed at establishing a regular and effective format for parliamentary dialogue among candidate countries, exchanging information, coordinating positions and providing mutual support during the European Union integration process.
Papuashvili is due to address participants and take part in working sessions during the conference.
Participants are expected to adopt a joint statement at the end of the meeting, the press service said.
