Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the country has received $1 billion from the United States, funded by profits generated from frozen Russian assets. This payment marks the initial tranche of a $20 billion support package planned under a broader G7 initiative aimed at aiding Ukraine.

“We are grateful to our US partners and the World Bank for this important step towards justice,” Shmyhal stated. He further emphasized the expectation that all frozen Russian sovereign assets be confiscated and allocated for Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.

The initiative is part of ongoing international efforts to ensure Russia is held accountable for its actions and to provide the financial support Ukraine urgently needs for post-war recovery.
