The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has released crime statistics for the first half of 2025, revealing an “overall decline” in reported crimes compared to the same period in 2024.
According to figures published on the ministry’s official website, info.police.ge, the total number of registered criminal incidents across the country decreased by 795 cases - a 2.96% drop year-on-year. The crime detection rate also improved, reaching 66.16%.
The Ministry attributed a rise in drug-related crime detection to “a consistent and uncompromising policy” against the illicit drug trade. In the first six months of 2025, law enforcement identified 3,919 drug offences - a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. A total of 263 individuals were charged with illegal drug distribution, nearly double the figure recorded in the first half of 2024.
Authorities also reported a reduction in property-related crimes, including burglary, robbery, fraud, extortion, and embezzlement.
Incidents involving sexual offences, human trafficking, the exploitation of minors, cybercrime, and official misconduct were also down. Cybercrime dropped by 80 cases, and corruption-related offences decreased by 46, the body claimed.
However, the report noted a rise in serious bodily harm cases and traffic-related offences. In particular, 175 more cases of violations of traffic safety and vehicle operation rules were registered compared to the previous year.
The Ministry stressed that improved case resolution rates reflected ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
“All relevant departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue to fight crime relentlessly, operating 24 hours a day to maintain a secure environment in the country,” the statement concluded.
