A standing commission established by order of the interior minister has overseen the destruction of 626 kilograms of narcotic substances seized during investigations across Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

According to the ministry, the drugs - estimated to have a street value of approximately 19 million lari - were destroyed by forensic specialists in a high-temperature incinerator meeting modern environmental standards.

The substances included large quantities of cocaine, heroin, methadone, MDMA, alpha-PVP, ketamine, amphetamine, cannabis, THC, clephedrone, buprenorphine, tramadol, codeine and marijuana, as well as various psychotropic and new psychoactive substances.

The destruction process was carried out in accordance with Georgian legislation, with the participation of representatives from the Interior Ministry, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Health.
