The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia said on Thursday that a Migration Department employee died from a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head inside a private vehicle, using a legally owned firearm, earlier in the day near Tbilisi’s Ortachala area.

Preliminary information indicates the incident may have been preceded by a personal conflict with another individual who was present.

An investigation has been launched under Article 115 of the Criminal Code, which concerns incitement to suicide. The case is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

The Ministry expressed deep sorrow over the death of an employee of its Migration Department and extended condolences to the deceased’s family and relatives.
