Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States this autumn at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, according to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Wang Yi said Xi Jinping and Trump reached “important outcomes” during their recent meeting, which he described as significant and marked by “in-depth communication” between the two leaders.
“This was an important meeting during which the two heads of state engaged in in-depth communication and achieved important results,” Wang said.
He added that the leaders’ talks were “historic” in nature.
According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, the discussions also covered key international security issues.
On developments around Iran, Beijing urged all parties to resolve disputes through dialogue, particularly on the nuclear issue and supported the swift reopening of the Strait of Hormuz following a ceasefire.
The leaders also discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine. China, which maintains close ties with Russia, expressed hope for a swift end to the conflict.
“China and the United States are ready to continue communication and play a constructive role in promoting the political settlement of the crisis,” Wang said.
