Ukraine is calling on countries that recently condemned a supposed Ukrainian strike on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence to now condemn Russia’s overnight attacks on Ukrainian cities, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, told journalists on Friday.
The Minister added that Kyiv is awaiting an official reaction from Qatar regarding the terrorist strike on Ukraine that occurred during the night of January 9.
“This attack never happened, but there was a reaction. Now we expect those countries that shamefully responded to that pseudo-incident to condemn today’s terrorist attack,” Sybiha said.
The overnight assault on Kyiv began with a massive barrage of kamikaze drones, followed by cruise and ballistic missile strikes. A total of 19 high-rise buildings were damaged, and the Qatari embassy was also hit. The attacks left 25 people injured and four dead.
Currently, 417,000 households in Kyiv remain temporarily without electricity.
In addition, Russia struck the Lviv region with a medium-range ballistic missile, which Russia itself confirmed. The Kremlin also invoked the false narrative of a “strike on Putin’s residence” as a pretext for the attack.
