About a quarter of combat engagements along the frontline involve offensive actions by Ukrainian units, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has said.
Speaking to journalists, Syrskyi noted that Ukraine’s defence forces are actively conducting both offensive and counteroffensive operations.
“Their goal is to keep the enemy under constant pressure, inflict losses and deny them the opportunity to advance,” he said.
According to Syrskyi, the tactic is yielding results, as “in January the enemy failed to achieve any significant operational success.”
Data from the General Staff indicate that 152 combat clashes were recorded along the frontline over the past 24 hours, on Thursday. The most intense fighting continues in the Huliaipole and Pokrovsk directions, where defensive lines remain under heavy pressure.
