Georgian Interior Minister Sulkhan Tamazashvili has called for closer international cooperation, timely information sharing and coordinated law enforcement efforts to combat cybercrime during an international conference in Kazakhstan.
The conference was organised by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Addressing participants, Tamazashvili highlighted the growing challenges posed by cybercrime and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between countries to address threats to digital security.
“Cybercrime is a global challenge that requires joint efforts and coordinated action by countries to combat it effectively. That is why close cooperation between law enforcement agencies, timely information exchange and rapid response are particularly important,” Tamazashvili said.
He stressed that combating cybercrime remains one of the Georgian Interior Ministry’s priorities, with ongoing efforts focused on strengthening institutional capabilities, improving professional training and introducing modern technologies.
“Our common goal is to ensure a secure digital environment and protect citizens’ rights. Georgia stands ready to continue actively cooperating with partner countries to achieve this objective,” the minister said.
Tamazashvili expressed confidence that the conference would contribute to stronger partnerships and the development of effective joint measures against cybercrime.
The Georgian delegation also included First Deputy Interior Minister Roni Meskhi and senior officials from various departments of the ministry.
The conference aims to deepen international cooperation in combating cybercrime, facilitate the exchange of experience between law enforcement agencies and promote the development of joint mechanisms to address cyber threats.
