Georgian, Armenian interior ministers agree to strengthen police cooperation

Georgian Interior Minister Sulkhan Tamazashvili held talks with his Armenian counterpart, Arpine Sargsyan, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Sargsyan is in Georgia on an official visit as part of a delegation, the Georgian Interior Ministry said on Monday.

The ministers discussed ongoing projects and future plans at Georgia’s Interior Ministry, with particular attention to the importance of sharing information and experience within the framework of police cooperation.

They also identified priorities for further bilateral cooperation, including joint efforts to combat crime and closer partnerships between police units in the two countries’ border regions.

Tamazashvili said Georgia was ready to further expand cooperation with Armenia across various areas.

The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s First Deputy Interior Minister Roni Meskhi and senior officials from various divisions of the ministry.

During the visit, Tamazashvili and Sargsyan laid wreaths at the memorial on the Interior Ministry grounds dedicated to police officers who died in the line of duty and paid tribute to their memory.
