Georgia’s National Food Agency has published the final results of its monitoring of food supplied to kindergartens, reporting that all 694 samples tested complied with established food safety standards.

The agency launched a comprehensive investigation after cases of norovirus-related gastroenteritis were reported among children attending kindergartens in Tbilisi.

Inspection teams checked kindergarten kitchens and meat and dairy production facilities. Samples of various food products were collected for laboratory testing, including fruit and vegetables, dairy products, beef and chicken, grain products, prepared meals and drinking water.

The tests covered heavy metals, nitrates, microbiological indicators and pathogens, including aerobic microorganisms, coliform bacteria, Salmonella, Shigella and coagulase-positive staphylococci.

According to the agency, all 694 samples met the applicable food safety requirements.
