Former Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has been questioned by the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service, the body said on Wednesday.

The State Security Service added Gharibashvili “fully cooperated” with the investigation and admitted to receiving illegal income over a number of years.

“In the coming days, based on the existing and newly obtained evidence, the investigation will decide on the legal qualification of his actions and the preventive measures to be applied, which will also be communicated to the public,” the SSSG said.

On October 17, searches were conducted at the residences of Gharibashvili, State Security Service head Grigol Liluashvili, former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze and five other individuals. The Prosecutor’s Office said investigators seized various electronic devices, documents and large amounts of cash.
