Aleksi Mamulia and Ivane Japiashvili, who were illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the village of Kvemo Nikozi in Gori Municipality, have been released and are now in territory controlled by the central government of Georgia, the Georgian State Security Service announced.

The release of Mamulia and Japiashvili was achieved through the active use of the “hotline” mechanism operated by the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) and other relevant tools at the disposal of the central government.

Officials have reiterated that the occupying power is fully responsible for all destructive actions carried out in Georgia’s occupied regions and along the occupation line. The central government has emphasized its commitment to securing the release of all Georgian citizens illegally detained in the occupied territories, with strong support from international partners.
