Russian occupation forces have illegally detained three Georgian citizens near the village of Khurvaleti in the Gori Municipality, on the territory occupied by Russia. According to Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS), one of the detainees has already been released and is now on territory controlled by the central government, while the remaining two are still being held in unlawful detention.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the SSS immediately activated the EU Monitoring Mission-managed "hotline" to address the situation. Relevant details have also been shared with the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and international partners.
“All available mechanisms have been activated to secure the prompt release of the illegally detained Georgian citizens,” the statement from the agency reads.
The SSS emphasized that the Russian occupation forces bear full responsibility for all destructive actions committed both in the occupied territories of Georgia and along the occupation line.
