Georgia’s First Lady Tamar Bagrationi has visited the municipalities of Keda and Khelvachauri in the Adjara region, focusing on family support, women’s economic empowerment and the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Bagrationi made the visit together with Sopio Bakuridze, the wife of the chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the presidential press office said on Tuesday.

In Keda, the first lady visited a large family and spoke to its members about their daily needs.

She also visited the Women’s Room at the Keda municipality administration, where she met women entrepreneurs and learned about their work.

The meeting focused on expanding women’s economic opportunities, increasing their participation in the local economy and creating opportunities for them to develop their businesses and strengthen their financial independence.

During the visit, Bagrationi also attended the opening of an inclusive education centre for people with disabilities at a public school in the village of Erge, in Khelvachauri municipality.

She toured the new facility and was briefed on its activities and the environment created for its beneficiaries.
