Tbilisi-based Georgian Airways is expected to launch direct Tbilisi-Makhachkala-Tbilisi direct flights, Russian media reported this week. According to the schedule on the Makhachkala airport webpage, flights from November 23 to March 30 will be operated three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Blogger Nikolai Levshits claimed this month the Georgian Airways planned to operate flights between Tbilisi and Makhachkala, as well as between Tbilisi and Saint Petersburg from December 10, between Batumi and Moscow from December 12.
According to Echo Kavkaza, the total number of direct flights between Russia and Georgia may reach 58 per week in December. Russian Red Wings flights are planned from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Sochi to Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi – a total of 23 per week.
“Despite the fact that the sale of tickets has already started on the website of the Russian company, the Georgian authorities do not publish information about the issuance of relevant permits”, Echo Kavkaza said.
Russia resumed direct flights with Georgia earlier this year, on the backdrop of its ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
