Tbilisi City Hall on Saturday said municipal services have been operating in emergency mode for the past two days due to heavy precipitation across the capital.

Specialized equipment has been mobilized, and both central and secondary roads in Tbilisi and surrounding areas are being cleared and treated with technical salt to ensure safe traffic conditions.

The situation in the city and adjacent territories is being monitored around the clock by Deputy Mayor Irakli Bendeliani, Director of Tbilservice Group Giorgi Papava, district administrators, and heads of relevant municipal services.

“We have been working in emergency mode since the evening of February 26. Roads are being continuously cleared of snow using special machinery. Restoration works are underway on damaged outdoor lighting, electricity networks and cables. Municipal services are also removing and processing trees and branches broken by heavy snowfall. All relevant municipal units, including Tbilservice Group, Ecoservice Group and district administrations, are fully mobilized,” Papava said.

City Hall has urged residents to use winter tires when driving during periods of heavy snowfall.
