The first session of the eighth convocation of the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) is under way, where members have voted to re-elect Zurab Abashidze as chair.

Abashidze received 45 votes in favour and 3 against, continuing in the role he also held during the previous, seventh convocation.

The inaugural session was attended by several opposition representatives, including

Giorgi Gvenetadze and Davit Panjikidze from Girchi
Vakhtang Surguladze and Nikoloz Cherkezishvili from Strong Georgia – Lelo
Giorgi Kardava from Conservatives for Georgia
