During searches of the suspects’ homes, vehicles, and personal belongings, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms, including revolvers and pistols, as well as magazines, two hand grenades, and 238 rounds of ammunition

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has announced that police officers from the Patrol Police Department, along with regional units in Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Tbilisi, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti, and Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti, have seized multiple illegal firearms and rounds of ammunition during a series of operations conducted at different times.

As a result of the coordinated investigative and operational actions, nine individuals have been arrested for the illegal possession, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition - a crime punishable by up to seven years in prison.

According to the ministry, the detainees include:

K.A. (born 1982),
K.A. (born 1993),
Z.B. (born 1995),
N.Kh. (born 1995),
T.K. (born 1968),
R.P. (born 1957),
M.K. (born 1988),
as well as two previously convicted individuals — Z.Ts. (born 1979) and R.A. (born 1949).
During searches of the suspects’ homes, vehicles, and personal belongings, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms, including revolvers and pistols, as well as magazines, two hand grenades, and 238 rounds of ammunition.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 236 (3) and (4) of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which concern the illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of firearms and ammunition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in its statement.
