Three arrested in Tbilisi over large-scale drug offences

Police in Tbilisi have arrested three people at different times on charges of illegally acquiring and possessing particularly large quantities of drugs and psychotropic substances, and facilitating their sale, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

Officers from the Gldani-Nadzaladevi Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department searched the suspects, their homes and vehicles and seized large quantities of drugs allegedly intended for sale.

The seized substances included methadone, clephedrone, so-called bio, dried marijuana and ketamine, the ministry said.

Police also seized materials allegedly used for packaging drugs.

The charges carry sentences of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment, according to the Interior Ministry.
