One arrested in Tbilisi after more than 500g of cocaine seized

Police in Tbilisi have arrested one person on charges of illegally acquiring and possessing an especially large quantity of narcotics, Georgia’s Interior Ministry announced on Thursday.

Officers from the Tbilisi Police Department’s Main Division of Investigations and Main Division of Detectives seized more than half a kilogram of cocaine from a cache located near the suspect’s home, the ministry said.

The man was arrested as a suspect following operational and investigative measures carried out as part of the criminal case.

The crime carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
