Police in eastern Georgia have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in the Telavi municipality, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has said.

The suspect, identified as V.K., born in 1993, is accused of injuring another man during a confrontation. Investigators said the incident followed a dispute, during which the suspect used a bladed weapon to stab a man born in 1978 before fleeing the scene.

The crime carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
