Tbilisi Vice Mayor meets fire victims from railway station vending area

Tbilisi’s Vice Mayor, Irakli Khmaladze, on Thursday met with traders affected by the recent fire at the railway station vending area in central Tbilisi, following growing demands for support and accountability from city authorities.
The meeting, held after victims called on City Hall to address their concerns, was described by attendees as constructive. According to officials, the purpose was to hear directly from those impacted and to assess their needs.
Mzia Buchuadze, a manager at the market, said the Vice Mayor assured traders that the administration would consider all possible avenues of assistance.
“We met with Irakli Khmaladze, and he listened to our concerns,” Buchuadze told local media. “He promised to work on the issue and conveyed that the City Hall understands our pain. We will continue to engage with them and won’t stop at just one meeting.”
The fire, which broke out on Wednesday, caused significant damage to vending facilities.
