United National Movement Chair Tina Bokuchava has called for opposition unity, recalling that she warned sceptical opposition figures in 2024 that they would otherwise be “united in prisons” by ruling party founder and honorary chair Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“Either we unite, or Ivanishvili will unite us in prisons, and instead of choosing political partners, we will have to choose cellmates,” Bokuchava said.
She said she had made the warning to some opposition figures who were sceptical about unification in 2024.
Bokuchava said, however, that now was not the time for opposition parties to reproach one another or dwell on past disagreements.
“We should not talk about that now, we should not reproach each other, and we should not recall the past,” she said.
