Bidzina and Ekaterina Ivanishvili have congratulated Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II on his birthday, praising his decades-long spiritual leadership and “historic” role in guiding the country through “difficult times”.

In their congratulatory message, the Ivanishvilis expressed deep gratitude to the Patriarch for the “complex and challenging historical path” he has led Georgia and its people through with dignity.

They noted that sharing in the nation’s pain and joy and caring for its future is a difficult and highly responsible mission, which Ilia II has fulfilled with honour for many years, making his words and guidance a strong spiritual pillar for society.

According to the message, the Patriarch has done far more for Georgia and the Georgian people than could reasonably be expected of any one individual, even the country’s spiritual leader. The Ivanishvilis highlighted that Ilia II’s prayers and wisdom accompany the nation at all times and described his role in strengthening social unity as invaluable, noting that his words are always grounded in love and faith.

The message concludes by wishing the Patriarch health and strength for the continued benefit and well-being of Georgia.
