US President Donald Trump is satisfied with the outcome of talks between Ukrainian and American delegations held in Berlin, with most key issues resolved, Sky News and The Guardian reported.
According to the reports, an unnamed US official told a briefing that the negotiations were “very positive”, with consensus reached on a number of points and around “90 percent” of the issues settled. Territorial and sovereignty questions, however, remain unresolved.
The official said some topics still require further discussion but noted that Trump is already pleased with the progress achieved. He is expected to join Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s meeting with European leaders later in the evening by phone.
The source also said European representatives had worked particularly well and expressed hope that the parties are moving toward peace.
Progress has been made on security guarantees for Ukraine, the official added, comparable to NATO’s Article 5, though such guarantees would not remain on the negotiating table indefinitely.
At the same time, the official said Russia could be open to Ukraine’s accession to the European Union as part of a broader peace agreement to end the war.
