Trump announces meeting with Zelenskyy in Davos

US President Donald Trump has announced that he plans to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Trump made the statement while speaking at the Forum, saying that discussions with the Ukrainian leader are ongoing and focused on ending the war.

“I am working with President Zelenskyy. We will meet him today. He also wants this war to end. By stopping this war, I am helping Europe,” Trump said.

The announcement comes despite Zelenskyy having stated a day earlier that he would not attend the Davos Forum. His remarks followed Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector, after which the Ukrainian President indicated he would remain in the country.
