President Donald Trump announced on Saturday evening that US forces carried out “massive precision strikes” on three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—declaring the mission a “spectacular military success.”

“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace… If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier… Remember, there are many targets left,” Trump said.

Trump credited joint planning with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, praising the operation’s stealth bombers and bunker-buster bombs that hit the deeply fortified Fordow site.

He warned Iran that the US still had many targets remaining and that any retaliation would be met with overwhelming force and speed.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denounced the strikes as a “grave violation” of the UN Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non‑Proliferation Treaty, warning that the attacks would have “everlasting consequences.” He added that Iran “reserves all options” to defend itself.

The UN Secretary‑General urged immediate de‑escalation, calling the strikes a “dangerous escalation” that threatens international peace.

The Israeli prime minister says the US strikes on Iran fulfilled a “promise” he made to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities when Israel first launched an unprovoked attack on that country more than one week ago.

“A short time ago, in full coordination between me and President Trump, and in full operational coordination between the [Israeli army] and the United States military, the United States attacked Iran’s three nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,” Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court over alleged war crimes in Gaza, said in a social media post.

“In doing so, the United States continued, with greater intensity and with great force, the attacks of the [Israeli army] and the Mossad on Iran’s nuclear program. This program threatened our very existence and also endangered the peace of the entire world.”
