CEC: Voter Turnout Reaches 40.49% as of 3:00 PM

A total of 901 voters, or 40.49% of registered voters, had cast their ballots as of 3:00 p.m., according to Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC).

The election administration continues to provide voters and other stakeholders with updates on the voting process. The CEC said voting at polling stations is proceeding in a calm environment.

CEC spokesperson Natia Ioseliani presented the latest turnout figures during a press briefing.

“As of 3:00 p.m., 901 voters, or 40.49%, have cast their ballots. This includes 93 voters (34.19%) in Akhmeta, 129 (49.05%) in Dmanisi, 352 (34.82%) in Tsalka and 327 (48.16%) in Vani,” Ioseliani said.

She added that voters who are unable to travel to polling stations due to health reasons and have requested the use of a mobile ballot box are being served by members of the relevant precinct election commissions.

Under Georgian election law, campaigning inside polling stations is prohibited on election day. Campaign materials may not be placed within 25 metres of the entrance to a polling station.

The law also prohibits physically obstructing voters inside polling stations or within a 100-metre radius of polling premises. Gatherings of people and the recording or tracking of voters within 100 metres of polling stations are also prohibited on election day.

In addition, paid and free election advertising on television and radio is prohibited until 8:00 p.m., as is the publication of election-related public opinion poll results, Ioseliani said.
