Ananidze: Presidential pardons show the state’s approach to protesters is legal, humane

Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tsotne Ananidze has commented on President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s decision to pardon people detained during protests.

“The presidential pardon has once again confirmed that the state’s approach toward participants in violent protests is not hostile, but legal and humane,” Ananidze wrote on social media.

President Mikheil Kavelashvili pardoned a total of 226 people in connection with the Mariamoba holiday. Among those pardoned were individuals who had been detained during protest demonstrations.
