Tsotne Ivanishvili, son of ruling party founder and honorary chair Bidzina Ivanishvili, on Monday welcomed efforts to expand dialogue with young people, saying Georgia had long lacked communication and the exchange of differing views, while expressing hope that the format would continue and develop further.
Speaking at the closing conference of the ruling Georgian Dream party's youth organisation, Ivanishvili said he had always supported greater dialogue and was pleased to see initiatives aimed at strengthening engagement with young people.
He noted that representatives of the youth organisation planned to continue discussions with young people beyond the conference, although the exact format had yet to be determined.
"There has been a significant lack of communication, dialogue and exchange of different opinions in Georgia. I am glad to see work gradually moving in this direction and that these meetings have already produced some progress," Ivanishvili said.
He added that he hoped the organisers would further improve the format and launch additional initiatives to encourage broader dialogue.
