The embassy described his passing as a profound loss, noting that for many years he served as the spiritual father of the Georgian people and a pillar of peace, unity, and moral values.

The embassy extended its sincere condolences to the Georgian people, the Georgian Orthodox Church, and all those mourning his passing, expressing solidarity during this difficult time.

Ilia II died on March 17 at the age of 93.
