Opposition For Georgia party, led by ex-Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia has released a statement, saying the violence committed by the de facto authorities against citizens and their abduction as hostages confirms that the continuous protests of Georgian citizens are the biggest challenge for the authorities, protests they have been unable to suppress.

“The hasty criminalization of forms of freedom of expression, legislative violence against protests, and the use of protests as an instrument for persecuting people directly indicates the scale and power of the protest, which the de facto authorities cannot manage in the absence of legitimacy.

The number of illegal detainees is increasing, and legal persecution against them is intensifying. New illegal prisoners are facing up to four years of imprisonment. However, the Georgian people will always respond appropriately to violence and injustice. There is no turning back. With solidarity, mutual support, and united struggle, we will restore justice and peace in the country.

This struggle is being fought with the decisive advantage of the Georgian people and will end in their victory! Freedom for all illegal prisoners!” – the statement reads.
