Ukraine’s air defence forces repelled yet another large-scale Russian air assault overnight on Sunday, as Russian troops launched a barrage of attack drones and ballistic missiles across the country.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said Russia fired two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region and deployed 79 attack drones in a coordinated strike targeting several regions.
Ukraine’s aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, mobile fire groups and drone units jointly responded, intercepting and neutralising most of the incoming aerial targets.
Preliminary reports indicate that Ukrainian air defences shot down 67 drones over the northern, southern and eastern regions. In addition, one ballistic missile and 12 drones were destroyed across six different areas, while in two regions drone debris caused secondary damage.
The Odesa region was once again among the targets, as Russian forces used attack drones to strike the area. Debris from intercepted drones damaged civilian infrastructure and sparked a fire at a truck parking lot, destroying five trucks.
Local authorities confirmed there are casualties and injuries as a result of the overnight attack.
