Ukraine's air defence forces on Tuesday claimed to have downed the majority of drones launched by Russia in a large-scale overnight attack, according to the country's Air Force Command.
Ukrainian officials reported that Russia used 108 so-called Shahed-type strike drones and additional unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imitators in the assault.
Ukraine said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 93 of the Shahed drones across the eastern, northern, and central regions of the country. An additional 35 drones of other types were reportedly shot down, while 58 were said to have crashed or been lost without causing damage.
Local authorities confirmed that a farm in the Pavlograd district of the Dnipropetrovsk region suffered damage, and a fire broke out as a result of the drone strikes. In the neighbouring Sinelnikovo district, a separate fire and damage to an industrial facility were also reported.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence, in a statement issued this morning, said Ukrainian drones had targeted only the Bryansk region during the night, where eight UAVs were intercepted.
