Ukrainian defenders have liberated five villages in the Dnipropetrovsk region from occupying forces, according to the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.

The Regiment said the de-occupation operation lasted more than 100 days, with its main phase carried out in the autumn, with support from fighters of the 20th Army Corps.

A video released by the military shows that the liberated villages are Orestopil, Sosnovka, Khoroshe, Voronoe and Novoselovka.

According to the statement, battalion soldiers remained in their positions throughout the entire period and carried out counteroffensive actions. The military described the operation as a unique case in which a unit held its positions for more than 100 days while continuing to advance.

All Ukrainian defenders who took part in the operation have been nominated for state awards.
