Russia suffered its highest monthly personnel losses of the year in July 2026, with nearly 43,000 troops lost, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff reported the following monthly Russian personnel losses since the beginning of the year:
* January -31,710
* February -26,090
* March -31,960
* April -32,980
* May -33,760
* June -39,290
* July 42,860 the highest monthly figure recorded in 2026.
“In total, during the first seven months of 2026, enemy losses amounted to 238,650 personnel,” the General Staff said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently stated that Russia has lost approximately 1.6 million troops since launching its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including around 700,000 killed.
Earlier, in January 2026, media reports indicated that Russia’s total military losses in the war had exceeded 1.2 million personnel, surpassing the casualties suffered in any conflict involving Russia since World War II.
