Ukrainian MP David Arakhamia on Friday claimed “unfortunately, in most of the MEPs, the word “Georgia” is associated with autocracy, an oligarch, and the fight against freedom of speech.

Arakhamia’s comment – who is accused of affiliation with the “radical” United National Movement opposition by the Georgian government – came after his participation at the Renew Europe Leaders Summit, where Arakhamia said he had met European leaders, officials, and MEPs.

The Ukrainian MP of Georgian origin said the summit also discussed expectations for the NATO Vilnius Summit in July.

Georgian officials say the return of the country’s former president Mikheil Saakashvili to Georgia in October 2021 aimed at “sparking unrest” in the country to change the government and later “drag” Georgia in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

They claim Arakhamia was part of the plan.
