US President Donald Trump has announced an immediate increase in tariffs on Chinese goods, raising them to 125%. Trump made the declaration on his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing China of showing a lack of respect toward global markets.

“Based on the lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets, I am hereby raising the Tariff charged to China by the United States of America to 125%, effective immediately,” Trump wrote.

He emphasized that the US and other countries would no longer tolerate what he described as China’s unfair trade practices. Trump also mentioned that over 75 countries have contacted US agencies, including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the US Trade Representative, to negotiate trade-related issues.

In contrast to the sharp increase targeting China, Trump announced a 90-day pause and a reduced reciprocal tariff of 10% for other trading partners who have refrained from retaliatory actions against the US.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump concluded.
