US Embassy: We Remember Those Who Gave Their Lives Defending Georgia

Courtney Austrian, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Georgia, laid a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the fall of Sukhumi.

“Today marks 33 years since the tragic fall of Sukhumi. Together with our Georgian partners, we remember the sacrifice and courage of those who gave their lives defending Georgia, as well as those who were forced to flee their homes as a result of the war,” the US Embassy said in a statement.
