The US maintains its longstanding commitment to a Europe that is whole, that is free, and that is at peace, and we support the further integration of Ukraine and Moldova and Georgia as well with their European neighbors. When it comes to Ukraine and Moldova (inaudible) European Union, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said at a press conference on June 21.

He suggested that “these are countries that over the course of decades have expressed a desire for a closer relationship, closer proximity with the Wess.”

“The United States has worked with all three of these countries to help them develop their democratic institutions, to help them develop their system of checks and balances; to help them develop their economies that are integrated with Europe and with the West; and we will continue to stand by them going forward,” Price said.

The European Council is scheduled to announce its decision on candidate status of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova on June 24, following the recommendation of the European Commission to grant candidate status and European perspective to Ukraine and Moldova and only  European perspective to Georgia, which meant that the latter must first address several issues.
