Food agency uncovers illegal dairy production facilities in Imereti region

Georgia’s National Food Agency has uncovered illegal dairy production facilities in the municipalities of Vani, Tskaltubo and Terjola, the agency said.

Inspectors from its Imereti Department, as part of state control measures, inspected cheese production facilities operated by individuals in Tskhesulori village and near Tabidze Street in Vani, as well as in Kvakhchiri and Kvemo Simoneti villages in Terjola.

The inspections found that the business operators were producing cheese without the mandatory recognition required for such activities and without registration in the Register of Economic Activities.

Critical non-compliances were also identified at the facilities. Cheese produced in violation of the required technological process was found and sealed for subsequent destruction, the agency said.

The operator was producing dairy products without the required recognition or registration in the Register of Economic Activities. The technological process and labeling requirements were also found to have been violated.

The facilities were fined in accordance with the law, and their production processes were suspended.

The National Food Agency called on business operators not to produce food products without obtaining the required recognition and to comply with food safety requirements.
